Efforts for Improving and Strengthening the Banking Sector of the Country

September 25, 2021 – A meeting aimed at coordinating the improvement and stability of the banking system of the country was held at the Headquarters of Da Afghanistan Bank. The meeting was chaired by Mr. Mawlawi Abdul Salam Hanafi, the Deputy Prime Minister of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan. Mr. Abdul Qahir (Mohammad Idrees) the acting Governor of DAB, representatives of the commercial banks, and Chairman of the Afghanistan Banks Association also participated in the meeting.
Mr. Mawlawi Abdul Salam Hanafi welcomed the suggestions and proposals of the authorities of DAB, the Afghanistan Banks Association, and the representatives of commercial banks pertaining to the TTs, and provided insight on solutions thereto.
The authorities of the Afghanistan Banks Association and representatives of the commercial banks shared information in regard to their respective problems with Mr. Hanafi who promised that their problems will be addressed in the light of relevant laws and regulations.
Mr. Hanafi told the representative of commercial banks that discussions pertaining to the stability of the banking sector, business development and economic growth are important to the higher authorities of the country and effective measures shall be taken in this regard.
It’s worth mentioning that Minister of Commerce and Industries, Deputy Minister of Finance, Advisor to the Minister of Finance, and representatives of commercial banks had also attended the meeting.
