Meeting was Held on Development of Financial Access
The acting Governor and the First Deputy Governor of Da Afghanistan Bank Mr. Wahedullah Nosher spoke about financial inclusion in a meeting held in the United Nation’s agency office in Kabul.
In this gathering, Mr. Nosher said that Da Afghanistan Bank is struggling for people’s access to financial services across the country. To this end, Da Afghanistan Bank is arranging events and negotiations with the representatives of small and medium sized financial institutions and financial service providers besides the leading stakeholders like banks and Afghan ministry of telecommunication.
The scheme aims to reach out financial services to the residents of remotest regions in the country, as well as to diminish banking operation costs, expand public access to financial services and provide banking services in unbanked areas.
At present, the banks do not operate countrywide and can’t provide banking services in the most parts. To expand banking services and build further conveniences for the residents, providing of mobile and agent-based financial services through licensed telecommunication companies and banks for the purpose of receiving and paying cash through mobile and agent will boost the public access to financial services.
