DAB Governor Meets with Governor of Uzbekistan’s Central Bank

February 23, 2025 – The Governor of Da Afghanistan Bank, Noor Ahmad Agha, met with his counterpart from the Central Bank of Uzbekistan, Timur Ishmetov, during the Islamic Emirate’s high-ranking delegation visit to Uzbekistan.
In the meeting, both sides discussed expanding bilateral cooperation, facilitating banking transfers, capacity building, using the national currencies of both countries in commercial transactions, and connecting and developing payment systems.
Noor Ahmad Agha considered the banking relations among the countries beneficial, emphasizing that expanding cooperation in the banking sector with Uzbekistan can pave the ground for further development of commercial ties.
He stated that Da Afghanistan Bank is committed to expanding banking relations with all countries worldwide and, through this, providing the necessary facilities to the banking sector at both national and international levels.
The governor of the Central Bank of Uzbekistan, Timur Ishmetov, assured full cooperation on his part, highlighting the significance of the banking sector’s role in developing the trade between the two countries. During his speech, Timur Ishmetov considered bilateral cooperation significant.
It is worth mentioning that the visit of the high-ranking delegation of the Islamic Emirate to Uzbekistan aimed at enhancing political, economic, commercial, and transit relations between Afghanistan and Uzbekistan, as well as attracting investment in various sectors of Afghanistan.
