Meeting on Providing more Lending Facilities to SMEs
July 31, 2021 - Mr. Ajmal Ahmady, the acting Governor of Da Afghanistan Bank, held a meeting with officials of the Afghanistan Banking Association. During this meeting, the participants discussed provision of more facilities pertaining to the granting of loans to small and medium enterprises (SMEs). A series of other banking issues were also discussed and views were exchanged in this regard.
In this meeting, Mr. Ahmady asked ABA officials to provide necessary facilities in the provision of banking services, lending and other banking issues in light of the laws and regulations.
Following this meeting, another meeting was held with the officials of Federation of Chambers, Chamber of Agriculture, Chamber of Shopkeepers and Traders, and Chamber of Industries. In the mentioned meeting, Mr. Ahmady spoke about facilitating the lending process by commercial banks, digitization of payments to pay taxes in a safe and secure manner in the shortest time and its role in formalizing the country's economy and preventing corruption. He further explained that the creation of these facilities will provide the ground for SMEs development.
It’s worth mentioning that ABA officials assured better services delivery in this sector and the representatives of Federation of Chambers, Chamber of Agriculture, Chamber of Shopkeepers and Traders, and Chamber of Industries of Afghanistan appreciated Mr. Ahmady’s role in the economic sectors, particularly development of the banking sector.
