DAB Holds Supreme Council Meeting

April 05, 2026- The meeting of the Supreme Council of Da Afghanistan Bank (DAB) was chaired by Noor Ahmad Agha, Head of the Council, with members in attendance, and discussed monetary policies and issues related to the financial and banking sector.

At the beginning, the Governor of DAB, Noor Ahmad Agha, delivered comprehensive remarks on the effective implementation of monetary policies, the current conditions of the banking sector, and ongoing efforts to expand Islamic banking in the country. Furthermore, he highlighted the growth of electronic banking and the expansion of public access to financial services.

Noor Ahmad Agha stated that, as compared to many regional and global currencies, the Afghani maintained its stability over the past year. In 1404, the Afghani against the USD appreciated by 10.77 percent compared to 1403. This progress reflects the success of the bank’s effective and targeted monetary policies, Noor Ahmad Agha said.

In addition, the DAB Governor noted that in 1404, banks’ total assets grew by 4.69 percent compared to the previous year, reflecting the stability of the banking sector and enhanced customer confidence.

Subsequently, various sectoral departments of DAB presented their reports on the activities of 1404, highlighting achievements, challenges, and recommendations regarding implementing the monetary policy, strengthening the banking sector, developing Islamic banking, and progress in the payments system. Extensive discussions were also held on the plans and anticipated programs for 1405.

It is worth noting that the Supreme Council of DAB is the highest and most authoritative body in strategic decision-making of the bank. It convenes four times a year and makes fundamental decisions regarding the country’s monetary and financial stability.
