First Deputy Governor Holds Meeting with AACC President

June 28, 2025 – Sediqullah Khalid, the First Deputy Governor of Da Afghanistan Bank, met with Jeffrey Grieco, the president of the Afghan-American Chamber of Commerce (AACC), in his office.
Both sides discussed cooperation on strengthening Afghanistan's private sector, growing trade, enhancing interbank relations, and other relevant issues.
Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Khalid noted that the country’s banking and non-banking financial sectors play a vital role in Afghanistan’s economy, and Da Afghanistan Bank spares no effort in supporting its development.
Representing Da Afghanistan Bank, Mr. Khalid assured of strengthening the system for combating money laundering and the financing of proceeds of crimes, mechanizing the sector of Foreign Exchange Dealers (FXDs) and Money Service Providers (MSPs), and maintaining a desirable level of inflation.
“Over the past three years, significant progress has been made in interbank relations in Afghanistan’s banking sector. Compared to the previous year, banks have increased the provision of financial resources to the public by 71%," Khalid said, adding that the level of deposits in the banking sector has increased by 7.9 billion Afghanis in just the past quarter, and many international money transfers-related issues have been addressed.
Referring to the world that has witnessed positive changes in Afghanistan’s economic and banking sectors over the past three years, Jeffrey Grieco, the President of AACC, said that a conference aimed at expanding interbank relations in the sectors will be held in August this year, and Da Afghanistan Bank has been invited to attend.
