The President appreciated the achievements of the acting Governor of Da Afghanistan Bank during the workshop on implementation of commitments of the Geneva conference 2020
February 18, 2021 – His Highness, Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, the President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan expressed his appreciation for the performance and achievements of Mr. Ajmal Ahmady, the acting Governor of DAB, during the workshop on implementation and follow up of the commitments of the Geneva conference 2020.
The President said that one of the important commitments of Afghanistan to the international donors is combating corruption and added that fortunately the plan for electronic processing of payments is being strictly implemented by Da Afghanistan Bank and the implementation thereof is a strong step towards combating corruption and implementing our commitments with our international partners. The President of the country thanked Mr. Ahmady and said that he’s playing a determinative role in modernizing the payment system of Afghanistan.
Da Afghanistan Bank is rapidly implementing the modernization of the payment system of the country and almost 90 percent work concerning the electronic processing of small and large transactions has been completed. Currently all government and private banks and revenue and custom systems of the Ministry of Finance, and almost four thousand markets and shops have been connected to this system. In the near future, the salary payment of the defense and security forces of the country shall also be made through this system which is a useful facility for them, and over time, the cash payment shall also be replaced with the electronic payments.
