DAB Acting Governor meets with UNAMA Head to Discuss Developing Financial Services
July 16, 2024 - The acting governor of Da Afghanistan Bank (DAB), Noor Ahmad Agha, met with the UNAMA head in Afghanistan, Roza Otunbayeva, and discussed the development of financial services.
In the meeting, the acting governor of DAB said the development of financial services is vital in all parts of the country and considered it significant in developing the country’s economy.
The acting governor stated that DAB is committed to expanding financial services to all parts of the country so that the Afghan people can equally access financial services. “To facilitate microfinance for the people, a regulation has been enacted, and the people can access microfinance upon its execution,” said Noor Ahmad Agha.
Speaking in the meeting, Noor Ahmad Agha urged the aid agencies to contribute to creating job employment and decreasing the level of unemployment.
As part of his speech in the meeting, the acting governor of DAB considered the development of Islamic Banking significant in the contemporary era and emphasized using the experience of the developed countries and Islamic banking institutions.
He stated that DAB is committed to developing Islamic banking in the country and is seeking to pave the way for providing financial and banking services based on Sharia law.
The Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Afghanistan and Head of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan, Roza Otunbayeva, pledged to support the development of financial services and establish relations with the leading Islamic banking institutions, considering this sector significant for the Afghan people.
